Yes it has been a while. I’ve been absent without leave. I should had my mobile app ready so I could post but that would have been short-lived without power and without any fresh images. Plus I hate working on a smart phone and refuse to do it. What I hate more is no POWER. And that means I have no WATER because I live in the country on a well. We had a tree fall on my deck and my insurance company had failed its first test.
I’m not real happy with BG&E management and communications. From Friday on I’ve been told my power is coming back on every 12 hours. That lasted till Monday late morning when it returned. All I want is something that is truthful communications. That text update is worthless. Tells you when you have a power outage. I know when I have a power outage because I call your behinds and then I get a text. It tells me when my power is restored. Real nice, I can catch that one myself also. IT doesn’t tell me @#%&*#$^ in between.
We have been calling for updates and that is where we are told the next evening and then the next morning and repeat, over and over. Well to be brutally honest that doesn’t cut it. All I want is some predictability. If you had no intention of getting to our neighborhood you should have just said so, enabling us to make the proper arrangements. I can understand with a large event like this but just communicate. I know you have an order of attack in repairs.
I’ve totally lost faith in BG&E. I’ve lived in my current home for over 3 decades now and the track record of power in our area leaves a lot to be desired. A multi day outage is nothing new. Had dozens of them living there. We lose power on sunny days. Hell last Friday before it was just a little fog and that resulted in a 4 hour outage which of course we get no explanation of.
I have a lot of respect for the people who do the work in the field and their support staffs. But it would a stretch to say that management can’t see trends and problem areas and take corrective action over such a long period of time. So I get no other impression than they don’t give a rats behind to our situation which means I’m going to get involved in making this more equitable for us.
OK, not only did we have a production problem with the physical plant, the labor force went AWOL also. Just like the trees, I got all bent out of shape. But hopefully a return to better days.
Random Thoughts of the Day
Sometimes its wise to keep ones thoughts to themselves.
Sometimes its wise to have a better memory.
Sometimes it wise to just live your own way.

Wow, that sucks. If it was management’s toilets without water and power I bet they’d have been on it pretty darn quick.

Sorry about your power issues. I was quite surprised we didn’t lose power. I suppose BGE can’t publish the order of their fix priorities – it would cause an uproar. We are usually late on the fix after hurricanes (I bail the sump pump by hand for an average of 5 days after an impactful hurricane), so I feel your pain. Too bad BGE/Excelon can’t put some of those profits back into updating our delivery infrastructure…
