Some calls

I had a friend called home last night. He fought a very brave battle against pancreatic cancer and his marathon fight is over now. His calling on earth seemed to be making those around him happy. He had a deep and loud laugh that was infectious. I think I’ll answer his call and make a donation to his choice, the Claudia Mayer Tina Broccolino Cancer Resource Center.

Made the executive call to enjoy a few minutes of the Super Bowl this Sunday. Haven’t done that in years but the guys are gathering and I’d like to join them. I don’t have a favorite in the game so it should be no stress watching and fun.

In the past, I’ve always made the decision not to miss work. But I have the time off to take so why not. I realized I pissed a few days away last year not doing things I wanted when I had the chance and using a day or two doing nothing in the middle of the week. All out of dedication, which isn’t a bad thing to have. You just have to make sure it’s appreciated and respected. If not you should adjust your mindset.

I’m not saying don’t be dedicated to your craft/skill, just make sure you’re doing it someplace that appreciates it. And sometimes those are hard to find. And even when you do find it the dynamic changes all the time when old people go and new ones come aboard. So adjusting to that change can have its ebbs and flows.

Come build me a fort was the call from my grandchild this morning. And so I did and a fine one it was. I’m becoming a cushion fort expert.

Random Thoughts of the Day

  • I forget to charge my cell phone fairly often. I figure the same would happen if I had an electric car so therefore to avoid being pissed off one morning when I really need to go someplace, I’ll stick with my stick and combustion engine.
  • One of my best friends makes a very good shrimp scampi.
  • If the rate of shootings keeps increasing at the current pace we are all going to be walking around armed soon.

With a lifetime and a half in the Newspaper industry I'm preparing for my retirement career as an Artist, Writer, Photographer and Video content provider. I'm a proud father of two wonderful children and I'm still married to the first girl I fell in love with and probably only one that would have me.
