Satisfying Saturday

Beyond needing to be pricked twice for bloodwork this morning it’s been a good day. I’ve accomplished a good bit, I’ve gotten a little rest, and the Terps won their bowl game. My family is happy and I’m about to check in on a few friends.

It’s getting near time to wrap up this year and put a bow on it. A year of ups and downs but that is common among all of them.

Seems I can never find a bow when I need one. Photo by Mike Hartley

So I’ll bid the last Saturday of 2023 ado and rise early on Sunday morning. For there is no sense in being out tomorrow evening on amateur night. I’m going to end the year with family. A nice meal, maybe a quick ride after sunset to look at holiday light displays in the area, and then a quiet evening with my better half.

2023 is the end of one professional life and the beginning of another for me. A completely new journey to enjoy and savor launches. One of so many facets that it’s hard to keep up with them. New skills to acquire, learning on a scale that would rival my early years, and working with a new passion never felt before.

Time to pursue dreams, time to enjoy the company and love of my better half, and time to pass on knowledge to children and grandchildren. Time to take in the wonderful words of others through active reading and learning how to write myself.

Challenging my confidence by sharing my creations. Making something that brings a smile to someone or pauses with curiosity or wonder.

Tomorrow is an end and a beginning like never before in my lifetime.

Random Thoughts of the Day

  • I’m not used to going to bed before sunrise.
  • I’ve always had a work desk and a personal desk at home. Tomorrow begins the day that they are just desks.
  • I love Cherry/Chocolate candy kisses. I wonder if they only do those during holiday time. Seems to be when they are in the house.
  • I’m soon to be footballed out.

With a lifetime and a half in the Newspaper industry I'm preparing for my retirement career as an Artist, Writer, Photographer and Video content provider. I'm a proud father of two wonderful children and I'm still married to the first girl I fell in love with and probably only one that would have me.
