Sorry about missing last week. Life kind of got out of hand for a few moments, but I’m back in the driver’s seat. At least this is fresh shooting from this week. Trying my hardest not to reach into the archive.

I can’t resist this town (Ellicott City). One because I love walking it. And several other milestones in life happened here.

Historic stone building decorated for a celebration, featuring red, white, and blue bunting and hanging flower pots on the balcony, with a traffic light in front.
I’m having a hard time celebrating right about now, but I do appreciate the effort. Photo by Mike Hartley

Not the best doors but they have hinges and a handle, so they pass the mustard.

Too bad these doors below are on the second level. If memory served me right, I think there was a balcony there at one time in history.

The sign might be hard to read but it says “Warning – Due to the current workload, the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off”

A barred window with a wooden frame on a building exterior, featuring a decorative wheel element near the top. A sign is attached to the bars.

The peeling words on the door on the right read Hocus Pocus.

Obviously, I’m late for the party this week. Busy schedule and not feeling 100%. But enough with excuses, I made it and even though it’s from the shoot I did the previous week in Annapolis MD. It’s better than missing a week. These didn’t make the cut the last week but being I didn’t get any new shooting done; they are this week’s contribution to the cause.

Have a great Memorial Day Weekend. And please pause for those who gave their lives for the freedom we live in today.

I wish it was sunny here in the mid-Atlantic, but it is a dreary weekend.

A life-sized bear statue wearing a white sweater stands outside a brightly colored shop with a pink striped door, holding a cane.

I told my wife I couldn’t bear to go into one more store.

A historic building with colonial architectural features, featuring black shutters and a slate roof, alongside a small blue house. In front, a street lamp with a Maryland flag and outdoor seating area.

The door on the left below has a brutal step down. The door on the right has 4 steep steps up to it. I stood at the base of those steps to shoot the door.

I was busy this week and pulled a few images from my archive.

The worn sign above the shed door says, “Warning BIGFOOT AREA – Stay on Marked Trails.” Also, that wood guard to the left of the shed door.

See I told you I was returning to my local roots last week after the NYC post.

Down and Out, Doors this week. I ran out of time this week again. I had an idea for some interesting doors but only got one of them, but on the way home passed a few doors that looked like they were on their last legs.

Next week I’ll have something more appealing to share.

Well, I missed posting on Thursday by 40 minutes but better late than never.

Life consumed me again this week. That and poor weather when the opportunity did rise has led me to the photo vault again this week. A mish mash of entrances. Some with an OPEN-DOOR Theme today.

On a trip about 16 years ago to Florida with my best friends, we visited the Navy Seal Museum in Fort Pierce.

My better half and I spent a few days last week in a town called Lauderdale By The Sea just north of Fort Lauderdale Florida. If I wasn’t so busy having fun enjoying the beach, pool, restaurants, shops and hotel so much I would have taken a lot more photos.

The doors in most places were wide open because the weather was so beautiful. The first two doors weren’t by the beach. They were about a mile north of it.

This is always one of my favorites. A door to a door.

Just down the street from where we stayed is the Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church

I hear it’s good, but I stay away from Tequila.

Looked cool at night also.

Our first meal here overlooking the beach and eating seafood.

Not much of an entrance but the greater was all smiles. Photo by Mike Hartley

It was a sweet town to visit and had a small city feel to it that Fort Lauderdale couldn’t.
