What relationships have a positive impact on you? Not a bad question to ponder given that relationships change over time.

Luckily for me there are a great number of relationships that have had a positive impact on me. All my close friends and family of course. A great deal of professional relationships has positively affected my life.

But instead of the typical praise upon a person or group, I’m going to reflect on an unusual positive impact. It’s not a person.

It’s my car. Each time I get in my car I feel good. Each time I start the ignition it feels better. And when I get out on some back roads it feels great.

It’s the first time since my early youth that I’ve had a car I’m proud of and that is fun to drive. It’s nothing much, just a little Miata MX5. But there is something from the first time I saw and drove it that I fell in love with.

The relationship hits 10 years now, and I’m certain it will start giving me some problems to deal with but that is okay because the upside is so great.

Relationships

A Daily writing prompt asks “What relationships have a positive impact on you?”

As I reflected on the question I concluded that I’m one lucky person. My better half and children have had an incredible impact in positive ways for many years now. My wife saved my life. I don’t know how you can have a more positive impact but she has managed to top that with children which enriched our lives to another level. And the relationships with each of them have completed my life in ways I never imagined before children.

The friends I’ve been blessed to have in my life have supported me, challenged me, let me be me, and enriched me. So many with so many wonderful positive aspects.

The co-workers are numerous and have had positive impacts not just professionally but also personally.

This one might not be obvious but my relationship with animals is special to me. I love living things and pets are a joy in life that can result in so many positive feelings and comforting love.

Of course who are your closest relations? Your parents right? Well if you have parents that you are trying to honor and respect throughout your life even after they have passed, then they have given you the proper start in life and there isn’t a more important impact than that.
