This is the first election I haven’t worked at a newspaper since 1976. It feels very strange and I miss the excitement and pressure. It’s kind of the first time I missed work since I retired at the beginning of the year. That’s 12 Presidential elections and I think 13 midterms.

It was the one time of year I saw a lot of the day shift folks I once worked with. Most of the action is between 5 pm and 3 am most years. With the last few being the exception.

I think I’ll send my old managers a text this evening and wish them well because it’s a busy and long evening.

I probably won’t sleep just out of memory reflex.
