A simple lunch, a simple bloom and a wonderful weekend

This week I was able to make some time to have lunch with my Daughter. What a wonderful thing to have some time with your children when they are grown. So much more of life to share. You do most of your child raising before they leave the nest but I’m realizing you never stop mentoring your kids.

And they never stop helping shape you as a parent. For that day, I was able to hear something in a way from her that made a lot of sense and it changed my approach to something and therefore improved and maybe even elongated my life. And in my rambling on through a nice lunch at Bare Bones in St John’s Plaza, I hope she picked up on some words of wisdom.

Life is precious, helping someone enjoy and get the most out of it is something we all should be helping each other do. Because I’m starting to learn, what you do for others comes back to help you out even more. Hey, I never said I was a fast learner. I’ve made a lot of mistakes to get to this point.

Exercising my menu selections. I’ve been slowly trying new dishes when I go out to eat. I love a great meal. So I decided to veer from my traditional favorites at China Taste in Enchanted Forest and made a selection from the Thai section. The Thai shrimp fried rice with pineapple and cashews. It was great. Loved it and now I have another favorite. Variety is the spice of life they say.

OK, I believe Ernesto’s in Enchanted Forest, may be challenging El Azteca in Clarksville, as my favorite south of the border fiesta. Well they have the advantage of being closer also. But the food is very good. Burritos Grande is a meal and a half. Very good. Yes its a chain and I believe in supporting my local businesses and certainly will visit El Azteca again.

This week my passion to learn returned again. This week I spent a lot of time worrying about a good friend and spent time letting them know it. This week my love for my better half grew. This week I didn’t let pain stop me all the time. This week I saw my best friends. This week I got excited about baseball season starting again. And also the championship of college basketball season. This week I realized I need to get busy creating something worthwhile. Make that many worthwhile things. This week is almost over. I’m looking forward to this coming week and seeing my children and friends and finding love each day. And remembering as my daughter taught me to not blow my horn or yell at all the people on the road that can’t drive.

Random Thoughts for Sunday April 3rd 2016

  • It’s not like I stop having random thoughts on days I don’t post. I just miss writing them down.
  • Looking forward to driving a real machine again.
  • If you watch TV you learn there is a pill for everything that ails you. If you listen closely though there are far more serious effects from taking those drugs.
  • I have to start testing myself more physically again. And spring and outdoor yard home chores and other sports should keep me active.
  • A new week begins again, what a wonderful thought, even if it does begin with work.

With a lifetime and a half in the Newspaper industry I'm preparing for my retirement career as an Artist, Writer, Photographer and Video content provider. I'm a proud father of two wonderful children and I'm still married to the first girl I fell in love with and probably only one that would have me.

  1. Hey, my daughter treated me to a (carry out) Bare Bones Special Salad this week! Making note of the other restaurants you mention – we very rarely eat out, but it would be nice to have a few more options.
