Finding it

Finding that object, texture, angle, expression, mood, or color. I love searching for it. It’s like being on a quest when I grab the camera. Sort of like a game of what can I see today.

Sometimes things that seem to have no beauty echo times of history. A richness all its own but maybe obscured by its skin.

The old mill in Ellicott City.

Last article/illustration about the mill’s planned future use I could find in the Baltimore Biz Journal. If this is done that is a good sign for the town.

Admiring beauty. OH in the case of full disclosure. I didn’t see the grasshopper on the leaf next to the blooms till I was editing it. Photo by Mike Hartley

Random Thoughts of the Day (evening edition)

  • Having visited Sanibel Island once it breaks my heart to see the destruction of what looked to be paradise. It’s just that nature likes to redefine paradise every so often.
  • I shouldn’t have taken time to watch some of the Yankee ball game today, but I did.
  • It gives one pause to watch the count of lives lost increase knowing more are to come. I will pause in memory of them tonight.
  • I wonder how I did this. I have the feeling of both a productive day and a restful one at the same time.

With a lifetime and a half in the Newspaper industry I'm preparing for my retirement career as an Artist, Writer, Photographer and Video content provider. I'm a proud father of two wonderful children and I'm still married to the first girl I fell in love with and probably only one that would have me.
