Wicked Wednesday

It’s been a great day. I had a few free hours for some work on the sketchpad. That was bookended by chores, like mowing and home chores.

I can still kick ass with a push mower. But I do like the rider. Thankfully I can cut 2/3 of the yard with that trusty 26-year-old John Deere. Then again it’s early in the season and still cool out. We will see how this senior body is holding up in August pushing that hilly backyard.

All kinds of things are going well to start the week off. Mother Nature did her part and provided beautiful sunshine for the 2 days. Today wasn’t the best but there were breaks in the clouds.

My better half had a busy day so I had the house to myself for a few hours. We all know that means the dust gets blown off the speakers and any other surface in the house. Queue the old classic rock.

Toddler Tuesday

Satisfaction after a wonderful Tuesday with my grandson. When he gets up in my lap and sits contently it makes me feel good. This bundle of energy is hardly still unless he is asleep and that is decreasing also. So when he chooses me to sit on for a few minutes it’s like I’ve won a medal.

I love making him laugh. And the pure joy when he realized I would share my tootsie pop with him was beyond happiness for both of us.

He is so into airplanes now. I’m going to have to get him one. Let me clarify, he is just short of 2. A toy plane. I bet he would like an airshow. Oh, the National Air and Space Museum at Dulles would also be good.

Homeowner mowed?

I wonder how many homeowners in this county still cut their property. From the number of yard services running around the roads and neighborhoods, it’s not too many. I think 3 of us in this neighborhood cut our own out of maybe 20 homes.

Sneakers and exercise

I started to break in a new pair of sneakers with a few miles around town and on the treadmill. My first pair of Under Armor. Fairly, comfortable so far.

A little time with the weights trying to put some tone back in the muscles. It’s a good incentive to step away from the computer for a few minutes. Seeing some results already.

Details, details

Detailing my car is becoming part of my weekly routine. It brings back memories of when I was a bit of a car nut as a youth and kept the ride shining.

Random Thoughts of the Day

  • It feels like there’s something in the air. Oh yeah, pollen.
  • Music takes away the pain, till the song stops.
  • I’m starting to experiment with a new medium. If successful it might turn into a new large.
  • It’s getting warmer and warmer and I’m wearing less and less and smiling more and more.

With a lifetime and a half in the Newspaper industry I'm preparing for my retirement career as an Artist, Writer, Photographer and Video content provider. I'm a proud father of two wonderful children and I'm still married to the first girl I fell in love with and probably only one that would have me.

  1. Daddy loves using a push mower – he gets to have a great workout and do yard stuff at the same time! Plus he always follows it up with a beer (Yuenglings – America’s oldest brewery) and if I’m around I’ll often join him out on the deck with a soda. It’s a wonderful time for me bc he always seems so charged and energized after spending an hour plus mowing. Or just dehydrated and buzzed!!! 🤣🤣🤣

for airshows, look up the Beyond the Horizons air show in Montgomery, AL if you get the chance to travel down here. We went a couple of weeks ago and it was the bomb!

Kudos for you for keeping fit. Keep at it and remember if you are doing it properly, you will be building muscle as well as losing weight, so don’t fixate on a number. Also, try walking on the treadmill in reverse. Reverse walking has some serious benefits (the UK’s BBC had an article on it recently).

    • There are a couple airshows here also. The Blue Angels usually do a show in Annapolis Maryland I think around midshipmen graduation time. Andrews AF Base also does a big show. I’ve been out in a boat on the Chesapeake Bay and jets from the Patuxent River AIr Station will buzz by. Thanks on the fitness part.
