The furthest I’ve gone is to Helsinki Finland. It was a business trip for a User Group meeting for our publishing system at the Washington Post. I was the Lead System Admin on it at that time so after getting over the fear of flying that far, I signed on.

The inaugural flight of SAS Airlines from Dulles Airport in VA to Copenhagen just happened to be the one I was booked on. I still have some trinkets they gave out. I didn’t know that till we got to the airport. They had a big party celebrating it. I thought to myself they probably have a top crew wanting everything to go right so I relaxed a lot and enjoyed it. As much as you can enjoy 11-12 hours of air time.

It was a wonderful trip, seeing another country and the people were great. I got to take a few shots around town. I remember feeling the safest I ever had in a big city here.

The story is simple. When you have the opportunity to gather with other talent from around the world focused on something and all trying to make it better, it’s a special, unique, and fun learning experience. And getting out of the office for it is icing on the cake.

With a lifetime and a half in the Newspaper industry I'm preparing for my retirement career as an Artist, Writer, Photographer and Video content provider. I'm a proud father of two wonderful children and I'm still married to the first girl I fell in love with and probably only one that would have me.
