What’s your favorite month of the year? Why? – Good question from the Daily Writing prompt.
July is my favorite month of the year. I’m a warm weather person so this mid-summer month is usually the peak of my comfort zone. It’s also a month a lot of family activities happen.
When I was working sometimes it was the first month, I’d take some time off because I’ve always taken a majority of my vacation time in the summer and save a week for the holidays.
If I’m not at the beach for a week with the family I’m taking a couple day trips or a few days with my better half mid-week for the toes in the sand fix.
It’s the Greenest month. Trees are completely full, and nothing has turned. Yards are green and gardens are colorful, and farms are putting that Eastern Shore sweet corn in the bin for me to pick up.
The water is the warmest and prime for swimming. Well, I guess it is sometimes a bit warmer in August but it’s at or near peak temps.
There seems to be a more relaxed vibe on the roads. Less traffic with schools out and people off from work. It’s baseball season and people fill both ballparks and state/national parks.
One day this month always causes me pause and sadness, but the rest of the month helps me power through that.
