Like the soon to start Major League Baseball season, I’m feeling in the swing of things again. The body is recovering slower than the mind, but we are on the mend and excited to get moving and thinking creatively again.
I was cleaning out some of my parent’s things and found some more goodies. This is one I found a good while back but being were talking baseball, it has some classic names for a minor league team. The tall guy in the back row with the big grin is Chuck Connors, one of the few players to play in both professional baseball and basketball. He also became a well-known actor and was probably best known for his role in The Rifleman.
Don Newcombe is also on this team before his trip to the majors and becoming the first pitcher to ever win the Rookie of the Year, MVP and Cy Young.
Clyde King another baseball player, coach, manager, general manager and front office exec for MLB
This was the minor league team of the then Brooklyn Dodgers, who my mom followed because one of her good friends was the wife of pitcher Bud Podbielan. I have tickets from Ebbets Field that they didn’t use.
Only 2 more days till the sound of the crack of the bat against the ball and the cheering crowds return. I’m looking forward to attending a game or two this year. I like the ballpark smells and sounds. And the O’s stadium is very nice.
I’ll be tuning into ESPN on Thursday at 3:05pm to hear someone yell. PLAY BALL.
But I’ll be watching my real passion March Madness later that day.
