Where do you see yourself in 10 years? – A question I used to ask a lot of people as professionals. So, the daily writing prompt waits till I’m old and retired to ask me what I’m doing in 10 years.

I’ll be really happy to be waking up 10 years from now. I’ll be elated so much I might just mark down this date to jump out of bed. Boy, I hope I’m lucky enough to live that much longer. Something to think about young people. This crap ain’t infinite.

I see myself still engrossed in my hobbies. In 10 years the grandchildren will be old enough to mow the lawn for me but it my own kids are any indication I guess I shouldn’t be counting on that help. So maybe I’ll be cutting the lawn, (hopefully on a new tractor).

I’m certainly still going to be driving that Miata that is in the driveway now. It might need a paint refresh and a new convertible top by then but those are replaceable. Hopefully I’ll be taking it to the beach in the summer.

We will still be in the home we have been in for decades. I will still be grilling out. And of course, hosting family and friend gatherings.

I’d like to think I’d have a nice gallery of work completed by that point. I’ll continue to build on for as long as I can.

I hope to be reflecting on more good times and laughs. And that my family and friends are well and with me.

The problem with this fine picture is our current leadership is trying to screw up plans that I worked very hard for during many decades. I want what’s mine in Social Security and Medicare and if we don’t get it there is going to be HELL TO PAY.

Looking forward to 10 years from now. Photo by Mike Hartley

With a lifetime and a half in the Newspaper industry I'm preparing for my retirement career as an Artist, Writer, Photographer and Video content provider. I'm a proud father of two wonderful children and I'm still married to the first girl I fell in love with and probably only one that would have me.
