What sacrifices have you made in life? – An interesting question from the daily writing prompt.

Some might consider things we have done as sacrifices, but most of them were life choices that included sacrifices to meet a goal. Most of it comes down to time and giving.

We lived off one salary for a good while to have one of us home with the children when they were young.

We saved, so our kids could do something we didn’t do, get a college degree.

I’ve driven a used car most of my life. Some without A/C. And one without heat. Then there was the year I rode a motorcycle year round, because I didn’t have a car.

Packed lunch most years instead of going out.

Worked my ass off and missed a lot of fun and sleep.

Caregiver for elderly parents.

Lots of life is appreciating all you’ve been given, not what you don’t have. And those sacrifices above all were worth it. And I guess that doesn’t make them sacrifices.

Giving a kidney, going into a war zone to fight for country, donating your time and effort to a charitable cause. Those are sacrifices. I don’t have a full set of kidneys, I’m a bit old to fight unless Trump or Putin want a piece of me, so I guess I better get busy helping others.
