On what subject(s) are you an authority? – Well, this is a simple question from the daily writing prompt.
I don’t believe I have one subject I’m an authority on. Not that I don’t have a wealth of life and work experience. I worked hard at both being the best I can. Then again, I did make it fun along the way so that kept the authority tag out of grasp.
There is the 5 decades of work in the Newspaper industry in many roles. Through that history I’ve always been blessed with working with extremely talented peers who I always considered the authorities. Good for keeping the ego in check. This is probably the area where I have the greatest depth of knowledge. Few know the operation from front to back or have worked and had experience with as many aspects of the whole operation as I’ve had the opportunity to do.
In life it’s the same thing. I’ve been lucky to have lots of people who expanded my thinking and view of life. Many who are authorities with insights that helped me be better myself. At the same time, I have a good chest full of life experiences, difficulties and successes that some might consider me an authority in.
I’ve been blogging for over a decade but I’m far from an authority in this. I’m an amateur photographer so that doesn’t qualify.
I’ve helped raise children and now grandchildren, but I’m not the father or papa of the year.
One thing that I gathered a lot of observations and experiences with is working night shifts. Nocturnal life is something most people never experience. And while I did for a few decades, I didn’t do that all my life so I’m sure there are more qualified experts.
I love a lot of people but I’m no authority in it. Lots of experiences in and with cars, but again, no authority.
Like I said NADA.
Then again, I’ve never entered my sweet tooth into the Guinness Book of World Records.
