What would you do if you won the lottery? There is a question from the daily prompt that I spend very little time thinking about because I don’t really play the lottery.
Oh, I’ve bought a ticket here and there but most years without purchasing tickets at all. The very few times I do buy a ticket I do fantasize for a few moments and then realize I just pissed away a few dollars I could have given to someone who is hungry. Or maybe a disease that needs help in looking for a cure.
The few seconds I do think about it I think I’d give half to my charities and set my kids and grandkids up for life and have a little fun with the rest.
Gambling is so in my face now that I’m pretty much swearing it off. As I’ve said before I think gambling will kill a lot of sports eventually. It’s going to and has already hurt a lot of people. Then again life is a gamble, so have at it if you want. It’s just no longer for me.

Hey Mike I’ve been an avid reader of your blog nowadays… love your writings… I hope you remember me from all my comments… And about the article… I personally have never bought a lottery ticket… I don’t even know where can I get one…

I think you’re right about the ultimate effect gambling will have on sports, Mike.
I’ve never been a gambler. I once thought I could do well at Craps. I read a few articles about ways to play and was pretty good at a computer version. I attended a tech conference in Salt Lake City where the conference party was a casino night inside the salt dome. We were all given $20,000 worth of chips. Prizes, like hard drives and computer mice could be purchased, but the prices started at $25,000 so you had to win something.
I joined a group of guys at the Craps table. I managed to play all night, winning enough to keep going. We had a lot of fun, but in the end, I gave less than $1,000 worth of chips to the “winner” at our table so he could buy a prize.
It took me a while to realize that, though make believe, I had lost over $19,000 dollars in three hours.

Wow, it’s amazing how fast it can disappear.
