Monday Darkness

I have a feeling our power is about to be out for a bit. Especially with 7-8 outages last week. These storm warnings look particularly strong for later this morning and especially the afternoon. And I got to thinking about what I can do when the power goes out.

  • Play with our granddaughter who will be over this morning.
  • Read – I’ve got a book in mind already.
  • Paint and Draw – I’ve been meaning to pick up a brush for a bit now. What better time.
  • Photograph – The cameras still work in a power outage. As long as the batteries last.
  • Woodworking – Might be difficult without light in my workroom.
  • Rearrange my photo collage on my office wall – A project I started last week.
  • Make a fire – If the power is out that means the heat is out.
  • Clean out my desk drawers and office – A long overdue task.

You know, I think I’ll do those things if I do have power also.

Almost like the sky opened up for that stroke. Photo by Mike Hartley

With a lifetime and a half in the Newspaper industry I'm preparing for my retirement career as an Artist, Writer, Photographer and Video content provider. I'm a proud father of two wonderful children and I'm still married to the first girl I fell in love with and probably only one that would have me.

  1. That’s a great photo, Mike. I hope you stay connected to the grid and I hope you get some of those things done.
