The daily writing prompt would like to know – What’s your home decoration style?

When we picked the home, we have been in now for over 4 decades we, decided on a rancher. On a lot with a big front yard and trees and woods in the lower back yard.

I’m not familiar with style names in home decoration. I don’t catch many if any of those shows on TV doing it. What I do know is my better half does have nice taste and style and has made the home a welcoming and comfortable space while looking very nice at the same time.

I’m more of the maintenance guy. I power wash, mow, fix, repair, move and hang things when needed.

The basement is another story. That is mostly my domain. A mixture of my art space, office, workroom and laundry and utility room. I’m randomly mounting dozens of 8x10s on the walls trying out different projects and themes which I take down and replace fairly often.

I do have one wall that I don’t change. A series of photos from Arlington Cemetery that I shot. With my dad’s flag in front of them. That will probably be there till I’m gone.

If I had to find a few words for the style I guess I’d use welcoming, comfortable and pleasing. Those are at least the expressions of those visiting.
