What’s a cultural tradition from your country that you love? – Asks the daily prompt.

Being very close I’ll start with Labor Day weekend cookouts. The 4th of July weekend fireworks and cookouts also.

Huge meal portions. I know, not real mannerly but I like to EAT also. Oh, we also have free refills here in the states. And speaking of huge meals there is one of our favorites here called Thanksgiving.

I was going to say Freedom but the Nazi who has assumed control here has put that at risk. Diversity in this country is also at risk due to the orange narcissists.

Halloween and the Super Bowl are big and fun events this country started.

One of my favorite holidays is Memorial Day. In honor of fallen in military service. If you have family who have served it’s an important day that many have forgotten the true meaning of which is unfortunate.

The daily prompt asks – What’s a cultural tradition from another country that you wish existed in yours?

I was aware of a few traditions from other countries, but when I looked at some of the others, I was enlightened and somewhat surprised.

One stood out to me that I wasn’t aware of. In Finland, it has been traditional since the 19th century to participate in eukonkanto – the sport of wife-carrying. There’s even a Wife Carrying World Championship.

So, if the World Cup isn’t your thing or coming to the USA isn’t desirable now (I understand and apologize) you can get to Finland for the 2026 championship in July.
