Some days you just have to supply your own sunshine and this looks to be one of them. Because as I step outside to that strong cold wind and clouds covering the sky, the boost I normally get from the sunshine isn’t there. They say that a lot about each of us being in control of the outlook of each day and making the most of it. I’m finally starting to realize that and its going to be a very helpful tool going forward.
As most of my friends and I approach our 60’s, the issue of pain has been an increasing topic. All of us have put our bodies through the paces for many decades now. Some brutally physical work at times. We all have been active in sports for most of our lives. Well I’m the slacker in the last decade though. But with some good reasons from time to time.
But as one of us was having trouble making it through dinner the other night we got to talking about how pain changes that positive outlook we all carry. It saps your energy. It plays with your mind. It dampens your outlook. It takes away your focus. It challenges that control about the part of you having control of the outlook of the day.
It’s almost like you get a partner who is the yin to your yang. You want to feel better, you set your mind to that positive mode, You get out and start the days activities. Oh, pain, shooting pain. Pain that makes you stop completely, takes your breath away, makes it difficult to get up into the truck. Well that is what I saw the other day. And it doesn’t leave you because it’s a partner.
Were not like that all the time but increasingly more often. All of us are dealing with different things like knee and shoulder surgeries and or massive back issues. All of us are fairly active and its putting a real crimp in wanting to do some sports. We the exception of one of us who stays in incredible shape. We have slowly modified and continue to have a great time but our activities are changing.
And that is what life is about. Adapting to changes in conditions, both your own and external. How well we do it gives us the quality of life regardless of the situation. At least so far.
Random Thoughts for Saturday April 9th 2016
- Buying a car now is a bigger pain in the behind than it used to be. I’ve got one dealership that won’t leave me alone and another one that seems to not want to respond. Interesting. Guess I might have to see what #3 is like. They say the 3rd time is the charm.
- Life is short. That is all you need to know.
- Creative juices are something that can’t be bottled.
- It takes time, most of the time, to find or build something worthwhile.
- I’m starting to realize watching others be mad about things helps me not stay in those moments myself.
Computer Pancake House. Just thinking outside the box when I was sorting through images this morning. Caption idea. “What department ordered the Short Stack of laptops and who ordered the Full Stack?”
