Will our airports or country be a rest again?

I was watching the news of the protest at the airports this past week. And while protest are peaceful now, I’m wondering how much longer its going to remain that way. Obviously there is no give and take with the new administration. His way or the highway. The view on the opposition is just as strong and obstinate now.

Half the country is in strong support of what the new administration has been doing and the other half are getting mad and organized and will only work harder against all of these and future policies. There is the rub. No middle ground, no compromise, no agreement. Therefore civil war.

Yep, I think it’s already upon us at this point. It may be peaceful now but its only a step away from serious problems. While some are already amazed at the level of social discourse (Pissed of people arguing to almost violent levels), I think its only just begun to scratch the surface.

The continued fight now about what is even the truth. Again people with completely different beliefs fervently pitched in their positions. News organizations believed as the standards for decades and centuries with fact checking and a history of legitimacy, questioned as ill-ligament. Alternative facts, tweets and speeches the new standard-bearer. People no longer seeking the truth. Democracy crumbles.

Another factor is economics. Whole market segment convulse with a single tweet or sound bite. Huge disruptions and uncertain futures for major segments of society like health care. And that might affect a lot more of us than those who were on the ACA. Who do you think insurance companies are going to protect in this if there is any risk? Duhh themselves. And that is going to cost you and I.

And we have redefined the ugly American outside our borders. Years of progress wiped out in weeks. Again, there is the rub. Half this country would like to get along with the rest of the world. Half of it says screw you, me first and you get scraps.

I was all for change in DC. I believe in term limits. I believe in NATO allies paying a fair share. I believe our tax codes need change. I believe our infrastructure needs help. I believe we have problems with crime. I believe we have lots of poverty. It would be nice if we could bring manufacturing back to this country but that is a tall order competing against the world’s labor market which is much less costly than ours. I’m in full support of more jobs and better jobs. I’ve always believed in a strong and ready military, but didn’t we have that before a few weeks ago? Yes we can do better with Veterans. I don’t believe in another war bringing us more Vets to take care of when we aren’t doing the job now.

I didn’t like Hillary as a choice. But Damn, this guy is nuts. I’d give him a chance if I didn’t think it would come as such a negative price. Yeah there is a swamp inside the beltway, and it just got deeper and more populated than ever. And each day is a new level of deceit and discourse which is leading to the death of democracy.
