One of those days

Every once in a while you get these wake up calls. Enlightening information or perspectives. Ones that change your thoughts and actions in life. I had a few in recent months. Some good information that changed my outlook for the better and some not so good information that I’m also looking at for the better.

For example, retiring a bit earlier than planned. While that has turned out to be a blessing (at least the first 10 days have been). It also shook me up for a few days when cutbacks were announced. After 26 years at the same place it’s a bit like your second home and all those neighbors are going away.

I’ve gotten charged up on creating and the more I do the more I’m fired up to do more. I’m trying to do 2-4 posts a day this year, working on a few books each day, utilizing that nice printer I have and cranking out larger prints for framing. And from today forward I’m going to be doing a lot more shooting (photography type) which means more time editing. All of this is becoming a labor of love.

A few months back I saw a photo of myself that a friend snapped that I used to change my direction in taking better care of my body. It’s not that I hadn’t seen pictures of myself when I was heavier, but it was this particular one with friends that caught me and provided the switch that said stick with it. And after a few months I was able to change what I hadn’t in a few decades. I’ll post the shot I’m talking about when I take another one of me and the same friends at the beach this year.

There are other recent events that have taught me things about people and about myself. Ones that will shape my future and have refocused me. Ones that are a real wake up call. And I’m thankful for that because today will be better for it and every day forward.

Random Thoughts of the Day

  • Wind = Mother Natures hedge trimmers and chainsaw. And sometimes house renovator.
  • I have a taste for pizza today.
  • Gambling is becoming such a part of sports broadcast, programming and advertising I’m losing my interest in most of them.
  • Each day just got more special.

With a lifetime and a half in the Newspaper industry I'm preparing for my retirement career as an Artist, Writer, Photographer and Video content provider. I'm a proud father of two wonderful children and I'm still married to the first girl I fell in love with and probably only one that would have me.
