Sparkle

The day has a nice sparkle to it. Be it in the eyes of people I saw or feeling in my heart. I got a wonderful note from my daughter that touched me. Yesterday a great surprise from my son and I’m beaming from ear to ear.

I was up early and made some nice progress. And then I ran out of ink and had to put a hold on some of the printing I was doing. No problem, I shifted gears to some editing and organizing.

Joined Up

Two very uncharacteristic things happened today. I went shopping with my better half and we went to and joined Costco. I’ve heard friends speak of this place and sampled a few things from their homes and at least one person in this home was chomping at the bit to go.

First I was impressed with the organization and efficiency of the staff of the Columbia location. Second, my better half tells me prices are very good. They carry a lot of stuff and I’m sure we can make use of the membership fee and not overspend. We didn’t do too bad and got out without breaking the bank.

Now I’m not a big box store type person. I think I’ve stepped foot in a Walmart twice and didn’t buy a thing. I try to use my local Clarks hardware instead of Home Depot or Lowes as much as we can. But I’m going to make an exception for this one being I’m retired and have to watch what little money I have.

I’m big into supporting local but for staples and a few other things, we can save some money for some fun things.

The shocking thing to me was that I thought I had come on a weekend when I pulled into the parking lot. More like a parked lot because everyone was cruising for a space. One of the staff inside said to me this wasn’t busy. HOLY F’ing crap. I hope I’m never near this place when it is busy because what I saw looked very busy.

And true to form, the people with carts drove them with the same lack of skills they probably have when they get into the car to go home.

I’ll be back, there are a few more things I saw that I didn’t walk out with. And it will thrill my better half that I want to return with her.

Random Thoughts of the Day

  • Pain has a way of reminding me who is in charge. I got slack, but had a wake-up call today.
  • Do you ever wonder how many more springs you’ll get to see?
  • I think the bad drivers in Baltimore got together with the bad drivers from Washington and had families in Howard County.
  • Concerts used to be people connecting through music. Now they look like a video recording studio.
  • Feeling grateful for another day.

With a lifetime and a half in the Newspaper industry I'm preparing for my retirement career as an Artist, Writer, Photographer and Video content provider. I'm a proud father of two wonderful children and I'm still married to the first girl I fell in love with and probably only one that would have me.

  1. Firstly, beautifully awesome photos. I love the glisten of sunlight on the ocean. I listened to one of Daddy’s friends telling him about his retirement plan upon a boat just sailing from place to place and felt soooo jealous.
Past that, nothing wrong with the big box stores. They often have random stuff you might never try otherwise.
And finally, awesome that you are still in love with the first girl you fell in love with. TBH, I don’t get it, but I am jealous of people who can find someone who is a perfect fit for them. Hugs to you and your wife and your kids!!!
