Winding down, maybe not

A day full of chores and tasks. It feels good to have a few more completed. With the weather turning wet the focus will shift indoors.

Some things didn’t work out today as I hoped for personally, but that’s life. Off to the next adventure I go.

Another home for sale in the neighborhood. 2nd one in 3 weeks. A couple of nice neighbors are leaving the hood. It’s changed so much in the close to 4 decades we have been here. It’s a great and crazy place at the same time. I’ll go into that another day.

I’m holding my own against Mother Nature. She has gotten a strong start but so did I. The property is looking good.

A day’s end. Looks like we won’t be seeing that orange glow for a while. Photo by Mike Hartley

I hope to attend two car events this month, one local at Mikey and Mel’s in Maple Lawn and the Spring show in Ocean City. I was thinking about a few days in OC but a scheduling conflict will make that a day trip.

This month I hope to shift my walking outside. I’ve already started that a bit in the last week, it will get me photographing more. Speaking of that I got to find a good day to get a few more shots of the old Columbia Flier/Patuxent Publishing Building before it’s torn down.

I imagine a piece of me will die that day just as it did when the old Washington Post building on 15th Street was demolished. Between the 2 locations, I spent many decades, in those homes away from home.

The memories are never erased no matter if the physical structures are gone. There is a good chance we might be able to pull off another impromptu meeting/party/reunion/memorial/thank you before it is laid to rest. I’ll have to call one of my best friends tonight and get that in motion for next month.

For a second, I was mad at myself for not shooting anything new today. And then I realized, I have 3 hours left this day. So let me get to work. Rest well all.

Random Thoughts of the Day

  • Genuine hugs from your children are special.
  • I feel like treating myself tomorrow to a good meal.
  • Looking like, I’ll have to get the sweatsuits out for the next two days.
  • My lungs have a salt air deficiency.

With a lifetime and a half in the Newspaper industry I'm preparing for my retirement career as an Artist, Writer, Photographer and Video content provider. I'm a proud father of two wonderful children and I'm still married to the first girl I fell in love with and probably only one that would have me.
