What did they expect?

I read an article in the USA Today on MLB players fearing for their safety, because of threats from gamblers. Well, who didn’t see that train coming? One of just a host of problems facing all major sports now that they crawled into bed with the gambling companies.

We are only seeing the tip of the iceberg. I think one player was just suspended for life for gambling. I’m sure people have lost untold fortunes already. They can’t blame themselves for doing something stupid so obviously, it’s going to be directed at the team players, owners, and front office.

As the article implies, people aren’t cheering for the team. They are yelling for their bets on anything from a team win to if a play scratches his ass or not 3x or more.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Gambling will be the death of sports. And it appears to be moving quicker than I thought towards the end.

Hell, the players should sue the leagues for creating an unsafe workspace if you want my opinion. But they are also part of the get-rich-quick mentality.

So much for the history and integrity of the game. So much for teaching kids etiquette at a game. Looks like I lived in a time of great music, muscle cars, and pre-steroid sports.

The money and greed in this country out out of control. And we certainly have enough nut cases out there with guns that something senseless could happen in time.
