We were recalling the days of no air conditioning for our kids last week. It’s just the way it was back then. Apartments didn’t have it. Our first home (which was new in 1961) had no AC. I guess it was into the 70s before we had the money for a room AC unit. That went in Mom’s room.
I remember sleeping in the basement because it was a few degrees cooler at times. Some nights just not sleeping. I guess that is where I just kind of adapted to the warm weather. Now it’s my friend. Gym shorts and hat.
Our first few cars didn’t have AC. And even when I did have it in my 2nd car I didn’t use it. I drove for 10 years without AC back and forth 100 miles to DC.
That doesn’t count the years I spent on the bike in summers. There are no tops or AC on motorcycles.
I still do to this day with the top down at every opportunity I get. Even today in central Maryland when it’s in the mid to upper 90s I’ll have it down.
I can imagine the total meltdown of society if the AC went out. My suggestion to the masses is, to get used to it because it’s getting hotter and hotter.
For instance yesterday I saw almost every other convertible with the top up and AC running. Whimps, they are. I love summer and the warmth.
Time for me to get outside and work on the tan and yard. Be well all.
