The talking has been done and time for some serious action. I was feeling good about some of my efforts in October. Probably my strongest shooting month this year by far. Also one that I stepped up printing efforts and finally got backup of the backup. And I’m moving images into my portfolio faster than in previous months.

But I’m still capable of much more and it’s time to get to it.

So where to on my photo journey of the day?

I thought about photographing the leftover Halloween candy but that would tempt me to pick up another piece so I nixed that idea.

The rule of the month is to get a camera in my hands as often as possible and shoot shoot and shoot some more. So while I was out walking the neighborhood I grabbed a few shots. I saw this redness gleaming from a few doors down the street so off I went.

And this nest which was exposed when the leaves fell from this tree. I believe that could be a bald faced hornets next if my past experience is correct.

There is a lot to be said for just walking around. You meet people, you experience nature, you breathe clean air, your body and mind feel better.

I think it was 2007 when I got the Kodak Z812 IS and it’s been a workhorse. Sometimes the battery doesn’t take a full charge. Even when it does the zoom and autofocus seem to be operating slower and slower. I’m about to abandon this old digital camera. It’s seen its day and many beyond its years. It’s a little point-and-shoot model that was a steal.

It still works well and I’ll use it to train the grandchildren. But time for me to move on to the next one. I will say it’s been a great tool and having the alternative to the heavy and bulky Nikon body and lens is great in certain situations.

It’s provided many wonderful shots in my portfolio and will take a spot on the counter of old family cameras. So its time to make a decision on its replacement and place the order.

Random Thoughts of the Day

  • Learning how to use light is a lot of fun.
  • I forgot how much I liked Nestles Crunch bars.
  • Vegetable egg rolls and Chick fill A dipping sauce isn’t a bad combination.
  • Might try my hand at doing some electrical work. And then a lightbulb went off and I thought better of it.

With a lifetime and a half in the Newspaper industry I'm preparing for my retirement career as an Artist, Writer, Photographer and Video content provider. I'm a proud father of two wonderful children and I'm still married to the first girl I fell in love with and probably only one that would have me.
