A wonderful Saturday ahead. One with some chores but many opportunities. My better half is storing the Halloween items and getting out the Thanksgiving and fall items that she hasn’t already.

Photo journey day 2.

In watching a lot of reviews on cameras I’ve noticed a few things.

  • There is no shortage of people with opinions and reviews of cameras.
  • Despite the amount of photography being done on phones there is still a great selection of conventional cameras.
  • Don’t worry, I won’t add to that flooded field of sharing my opinions on the good and bad of each.
  • VLOGing features and focus on looking at self, seem to be all the rage. I still don’t get it.
  • The more I watch the more I narrow down what options there are based on what I can afford and what I hope to do with it.

I’ve done maybe a dozen spec comparisons on the B&H Photo site. I have to do some soul searching tonight and make the order. If you know what your getting before ordering it, there shouldn’t be any surprises or disappointments.

Just beginning to scratch the surface of working in photography, I’m like a kid in a candy store not knowing what to taste first. I’ve enjoyed landscape and car photography. Wildlife and architecture also. I haven’t had much practice at storm photography but it’s certainly enticing.

The pet and flower photography used to draw more interest from me but has waned in recent times. I need to do more portraits, sports, and street shooting. Some documentary pieces would be fun also.

I’ve been doing a little more food shooting this year and I wouldn’t mind practicing some product shots this winter to keep me busy inside. I might teach myself a few things about lighting along the way.

Of course the typical family shooting for years along with the local community events and towns.

I’m too busy learning and doing to teach anything so it’s just going to be my experiences, thoughts, and images in this journey. I have no problem being a perpetual student. That way I don’t miss anything important or stop developing.

What I learned yesterday. – Fall is fleeting, shoot fast.

With a lifetime and a half in the Newspaper industry I'm preparing for my retirement career as an Artist, Writer, Photographer and Video content provider. I'm a proud father of two wonderful children and I'm still married to the first girl I fell in love with and probably only one that would have me.
