Do you or your family make any special dishes for the holidays? – A timely question from the Daily Writing prompt.
So we are going to start talking food the day before? Might as well, the smells in the home are about to become wonderful.
All the dishes my better half prepares are special because of the effort and LOVE she puts into it. For instance the stuffing. She knows how much I liked my mothers, but she puts so much love and taste into hers that I devour it Thursday and for days after. It’s become my favorite.
She also makes an artichoke and cheese dip that I also can’t get enough of.
Here is the special dish I’ve been served this holiday.
- I’m not working so I can enjoy it.
- My family is healthy.
- My family is expanding again.
- My family will be together.
- My family will have great food on the table.
Now I’m going to finish this post and then go to the Maryland Food Bank and make a donation so someone else can enjoy tomorrow.

I’m sure this refers to US Thanksgiving, not celebrated in Europe. However, I’ll refer to Christmas where I aim to take a break from cooking. We eat out Christmas and New Year’s Days, leaving me to serve Champagne and Oysters on Christmas and New Year’s Eves.

MMM Oysters and Champagne. That’s a nice combo. As we get older we might be going to our children’s homes in the future more and cooking less. There are a couple of nice old hotels that put on nice Thanksgiving spreads that we have thought about doing also. But if the kids are available we spend it together.

Obvs you’d want to spend the holidays with family. But we have neither children nor grandchildren, so we can do as we please.
