A rather uncomfortable day physically, yesterday. Starting off a little better today so life is good. And a busy day ahead it is, full of opportunities.

Between NBA, MLB, NFL and Colleges, it’s extremely hard to keep track of WHERE THE HELL ANYONE IS PLAYING, from day to day, month to month and year to year. Before when I wrote about this it was from the relationship of the fan and the players.
This week I saw a different side. All these guys know it’s a business. But they develop friendships and when those go for a few years and more sometimes, it’s hard to split ways. And that has to take an emotional toll and affect locker rooms. Most people could see and feel it with the AD for Luka trade.
I know they work hard on building the new chemistry immediately because of the constant pressure to win especially after big trades or free agent moves or portal transfers or whatever colleges call their teleportation method.
It’s just like what has happened to the workplace. The first 3 decades I worked with people that had worked for their companies for multiple decades. The last 2 decades I worked with people who rarely made it to their first decade at a single employer.
It used to be such a treat to see a college coach get player for 4 years and develop and mold them both individually and as a team over a period of time. Now its year to year with new players all the time. If they are real good they move pro immediately.
If they are good but not with a big enough program the move universities and bigger conferences with more exposure. If they are average in a big program and not getting playing time they transfer to a smaller university to play.
It drives me friggin INSANE. Because I saw how it once was and seemed to work for both the players and the game. No it wasn’t perfect then either but I just can’t see this sustaining itself.
And the most important thing both player and athletes are missing, is that long term relationship. One’s that yield an intense bond with people. That turn into decades long friendships that last beyond the job or team.
Random Thoughts of the Morning
- I got one of those Yankee candles for my office. I kind of like it. I think it said Ocean on it.
- Mother Nature looks to give me more snow photography opportunities this year.
- Sometimes I think I’d like to just pick up and head to a warmer climate for a week in the middle of winter. Then I think about how I would miss my family and friends and the comfort of my home. And then I step outside and that trip looks good again.
- We had better start paying attention to what is going on and try to change it. Because it’s dangerous to us all.
