Attending Maryland basketball games has always been a load of fun for me. And tonight was no different. A victory over USC 88-71 and a tie for 4th place in the conference. CBS and Sports Illustrated had them predicted to finish 11th in the conference.
I went through several other newspaper publications around conference schools and found that 11th ranking about the norm, there were a few 10s and 12s. The nice thing is there are games left and we could win the conference title. That would be a nice way to announce ” We’re BACK”
The college game has an excitement about it that few other sport events do. Maybe Olympics but that’s national instead of local. While it feels like the same spirit, there isn’t the local connection with the athletes that the university and its alumni and regular fans develop with those institutions.
The shot below was from before a game a few years ago. Tonight, the place was rocking, but I’d still like to see a few more of those season ticket holders in the good seat show up. Or maybe donate your seats if you can’t use them.
Random Thoughts of the wee hours of the Morning
- I wonder if anyone has coined the phrase “Parking Garage Racing Stripes”, because I would always cringe when I saw that white or yellow paint from a cement pillar dug into the paint job of a vehicle that got, too close on a corner.
- Could people be realize someone isn’t doing things that could help. And could possibly hurt many people.
- I see 6-7 thousand IRS employees are losing their jobs. If people can’t get their tax returns, someone else might lose their job.
- Funny thing, it seemed there was a lot of support for years for Ukraine on both sides of our elected officials. Not so funny how that turned on a dime, when Putin came calling on Trump. Maybe he is teaching his Republican party to say Hello Comrade in Russian.
