Sands

This has been a festive day. It started it off in a good way and in good spirits. There is a birthday in the family to celebrate, it’s Friday, I’m retired, and was nothing pressing on the agenda today.

That sun is feeling stronger by the day. Soon the call of the sands will become impossible to resist. It’s 54 days till Cruisin Ocean City May 1-4. I know I’ll be doing at least a daytrip one of those dates. From my limited attendance I like the fall show better. And now that they moved the spring show earlier in the month that means cooler temps are possible.

I don’t know if I can wait that long though. I can see one of these warm 80 degree late March or April days triggering that itch to throw the beach towel, flip flops, floppy hat and cooler in the car, put the top down, hat and glasses on and head east.

Reflection

I used to like having our old Post Office close by. The shot below is from 9 years ago. It has since been torn down and a row of townhouses now occupies this space and some of the woods that used to be there.

This, like much of Howard County has been carved up. I live here, and have a hard time keeping up with all the changes going on.

Random Thoughts of the Day

  • The treadmill is a walk of the mind.
  • It’s not the lie, it’s that people believe the lie and perpetuate it.
  • When I’m alone, I miss having a pet. That is a lot of the time.
  • With the huge drop in circulation at both the Baltimore Sun and The Washington Post it seems like the area is ripe for a Middle Left publication. The Baltimore Banner is trying to fill that void but they are digital only. Not that many people read print anymore.

With a lifetime and a half in the Newspaper industry I'm preparing for my retirement career as an Artist, Writer, Photographer and Video content provider. I'm a proud father of two wonderful children and I'm still married to the first girl I fell in love with and probably only one that would have me.
