It’s National Crabmeat Day. And in Maryland, that is something to Celebrate. Who picked this date, is my first question? Our season in the Chesapeake Bay runs April 1 to December 15th this year. What is with March date? Okay, I won’t obsess with that.
Instead, I think I’ll make a point to get some crabmeat this week and maybe for dinner this evening if I can talk my better half into at least a crab pretzel or cup of crab soup at the local establishment.
We LOVE our CRABS here in Maryland. I can’t wait to teach my grandson how to pick them. I don’t think my granddaughter was thrilled with that though. Maybe in a few years.

Each summer is a feast of these critters. Prepared in so many ways, all of them great. From picking them fresh out of the steamer to crab imperial, you can’t go wrong.

There is no way I’m going to be able not to have some kind of crab today now that I’ve spent the last few moments thinking about it.

I didn’t know about this special day, Mike, but I just happened to buy some crab meat salad at the deli yesterday. I think that will make a nice side or appetizer today. Every photo is making my hungry. Enjoy the day!
