Being a Miata owner, I like the phrase Zoom Zoom. I also like a zoom lens on a camera. Yes, there are drawbacks. Namely slower, and not as sharp throughout the whole range. But as I’ve gotten older the option of always getting closer is tougher than it used to be.
I’ve got a couple of zooms that I’m loving and learning to use. The cameras have different sensors so a comparison wouldn’t be fair, but I might post some from time to time. I had the opportunity to test out the range on this camera and found a good subject while shooting from the dock in Annapolis Maryland. Those two towers in the distance in the center have a smaller one at an angle just to the left of the two.
That small leaning tower is a crane. And behind the crane is the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Not bad for handheld. Thought I didn’t have it extended all the way.

I’ve got to start at least taking my monopod out with me with this camera, if not the tripod. Because in addition to being slow they aren’t light either. I’ll give details on the equipment later and some same shoot comparisons this summer.
Random Thoughts of the Morning
- When my better half is sick, nothing else matters.
- Once my legs are in shape, I’ll move up and work on the core.
- I wish I didn’t get frustrated when I start a new drawing, and it doesn’t work out.
Random Political Thoughts of the Morning
- Worked very hard, all my life for that Social Security and Medicare I paid into, and it’s mine you meddling moron.
- I wouldn’t rely on elected officials to wake up and stop this direction we’re headed in. Maybe it will be the people.
- Elon calling Senator Mark Kelly and 25-year Navy Veteran, a traitor is hysterical. Then again if you take Elon’s Nazi/Communist and greed viewpoint, he might see himself as justified in saying that.
