Why do you blog? – The daily writing prompt asks us this morning.
A very good question and one that I should examine again. Because a flood of thoughts just raced by.
I started blogging to share some of my photography an occasional thought, observation or opinion. As I first wrote on my About page “I hope you find or have found something here that moves you in some way or inspires thought or illicit emotion.”
I blog for myself because I want to be creative in this medium is one of the ways I can express myself and my outspoken opinion.
When starting it, I was thinking about a business off it but it’s really a hobby that I work hard at. Even though the content or quality doesn’t always hit the mark, I occasionally touch someone.
Having worked in the publishing business for almost 5 decades I’m getting to play on the side I supported for many years. I wasn’t a writer or photographer or artist. I worked on the technical and production sides for most all my career.
I admired the work of those writers and photographers for all those years. And now being retired I get to do my own daily publication.
Maybe someday my kids or grandkids or friends will look back at what I’ve shared in life and maybe a thought or image will stick with them and that will make me very happy.
I blog to increase my knowledge from reading other blogs and connecting with the many positive people who do blog.
I blog to examine my own thoughts. I photograph to capture moments in time in my eyes and share them if I like them.
I blog because it starts my day off actively and in a positive mindset most of the time. It gets my blood flowing.
I blog in hopes of occasionally making someone laugh.
I blog to help me become a better writer so one day when I get going on a few book ideas that are in various stages of development a real run at completing a work someday that would be worthwhile.
I blog to become a better photographer.
