Decisions

The nice thing about Mondays in retirement is that I get to choose the agenda and schedule for the day. But many important decisions await. And I have a little more flexibility that my better half and daughter are spending some time together, so more hours are available for my hobbies.

The first decision I need to make is whether to attend the monthly meeting of the Maryland Miata Club at 5:30pm when the rain is supposed to start. Now given this is Maryland that forecast is only 9 hours from now the chance of it being right is 50/50. So, if I go and it rains, I’ve got to clean my car again. If I don’t go and keep the cover on and it doesn’t rain, I’ve missed an event I like.

But remember this is a car club. And most car guys don’t bring their rides out in the rain. Oh yeah, while checking my mail and Facebook on the other computer I see the leader has postponed the meeting to the following Monday. Decision averted.

Next is a decision I can’t avert or delay. Deciding on where to purchase the new lawn tractor. I’ve contacted both local dealers and hoping they will respond today after the holiday weekend.

It’s not the best day for photography but then again there is never a bad day for photography. I just like sunlight and that is obscured by clouds so far.

Well one dealership has responded nicely and promptly, and the other hasn’t so I’ll visit the one who did respond this afternoon.

Random Thoughts of the Day

  • The good thing about the clouds and cooler temps. The A/C doesn’t run all day long.
  • Making a good life is key. But not at the sacrifice of others or our planet.
  • You know what I’m starting to hate. Every medical appointment I have this time-consuming questionnaire to fill out.
  • Staying well informed takes a lot more work than most people are willing to do.
  • I have to get the 28-foot ladder out. And it only clears the gutter by about 6 inches. Not a fan of being that high on a ladder.

With a lifetime and a half in the Newspaper industry I'm preparing for my retirement career as an Artist, Writer, Photographer and Video content provider. I'm a proud father of two wonderful children and I'm still married to the first girl I fell in love with and probably only one that would have me.

  1. Be careful with that ladder, Mike.
