Are you a lifelong learner? – Asks the daily prompt.
You bet I’m a lifelong learner. For if you’re not, life can be very difficult and short.
Learning is a lot more than books and school knowledge. Even though those are good foundations. Learning about people and your environment is important also.
Learning is fun whatever way you do it. It makes life easier and helps you understand why some things are the way they are. And discover new ways and techniques to live and get by.
I’ve slowed down a bit in my learning in ways. Being retired I no longer keep up with technology like I used to but I’m using that space with my arts and learning there.
Learning by doing is what works best for me in a lot of cases.
I’ve made mistakes thinking I know everything at points in my life. Thankfully those times are long behind me in most cases. But as I get older, I feel I fall back into that trap sometimes, either out of laziness or overconfidence.
A recent example is the new tractor I just got. I’ve been driving them for decades. Doing maintenance on them and usually making them last. Already did my first cut without the manual being opened. Just a review of controls when it was delivered. I could easily be over-confident but I’m going to RTFM as I used to extort to my co-workers when I was helping them first and then directing them to the information.
Learning opportunities are all around us each day. Take advantage of them and hit a new level.
