Can you hear me now

There is a better than average chance I’ll disturb the songbird in the backyard for a bit over the next two days when my better half is away. I’ll keep things at a respectful level and won’t be disturbing anyone’s sleep. But during the day the volume might rise a bit here and there depending on the song playing.

After I drop my son’s dog off today, I’ll be alone for a few days. The first adjustment is the temperature. I don’t need as much AC as the rest of the family seems to enjoy. One of the first things I do is turn the thermostat up 2-3 degrees. And if it’s nice out, I will just open the windows and turn off the AC.

On the agenda is to get to our county fair and photograph the activities and fun. It’s been a few years since attending and I have fond memories of my days working at the fair booth and making PA announcements and giving out info. Our newspaper would volunteer to staff the fair booth. And we were regulars each year.

I enjoyed taking the kids there when they were young. I’m not sure they were that into it. It was a big event when we were young, and the county was much younger and far less developed. Farming and raising livestock are hard work. I have a lot of respect for those who continue to do it. So does my stomach.

Remembering back to more open fields, far less traffic, and simpler times is kind of what the fair brings back to me a bit.

Between the raindrops I hope to get a few rides in with the top down on some back roads.

Random Thoughts of the Day

  • Seeing the sun break through the clouds after a morning rain is inspiring.
  • Trump pushing lies and misinformation about vaccines will result in unnecessary deaths and suffering. It goes against doctor’s recommendations. Just another thing to add to the list of what a despicable excuse for a human being he is.
  • If you can be happy, you have the world by the tail.
  • I write a lot. But I write very little, on paper.

With a lifetime and a half in the Newspaper industry I'm preparing for my retirement career as an Artist, Writer, Photographer and Video content provider. I'm a proud father of two wonderful children and I'm still married to the first girl I fell in love with and probably only one that would have me.
