I’m guessing a lot of people feel there are lots of things missing from their lives. I’m not thinking of the material things. They don’t bring happiness anyway. Well, I could be wrong, some people are entirely materialistic and, on the outside, seem happy.

I’m thinking about love, friendships, relationships, a shared interest, an ear to listen to troubles or one that gives sage advice in tough times. Someone to give you a hug. Someone to laugh with or tell you things will be okay. Someone interested in your life. Those kinds of missing things.

Isn’t it funny how missing pieces of life can just overwhelm the rest of it. Many go huge portions, or all their lives with significant parts missing from what others take for granted.

I see something missing in almost everyone I know. Some are easy to spot. Some hide it well. Life is perfect for such a very small percentage of people that you could be right about something important missing in just about every person’s life.

How do we deal with those missing parts? Do we find ways to substitute missing pieces? Do you ignore it? Turn to destructive behaviors? Find other avenues for happiness. Find ways to adapt to what isn’t there for you.

Like the last few years of my career, I wasn’t all that happy and started to concentrate on my hobbies for joy and fulfillment.

I’m still missing things in life so I’ve got work to do. As I guess we all do.
