Lose yourself

What activities do you lose yourself in? – Asks the daily prompt.

Photography and writing are two that I currently lose myself in. Being it’s March Madness that is certainly an activity that I dive headlong into for about 3 weeks.

Last night I lost myself in fighting pain and trying to sleep. I’d say that activity was a draw at best.

I can look at my better half all day long and get lost in that beauty.

I certainly can get lost playing with grandchildren.

And I can’t leave this one out because it’s one of my favorite things to get lost in. My Miata is a driving experience that I regularly get lost in, but I have the nav system to get me back to where I need to be.

I get absorbed in car shows. I used to lose myself on my bike, but that activity is gone.

Losing it – oh yeah

What activities do you lose yourself in? – Great question from the daily writing prompt.

Music is something I often lose myself in. It moves me even if I’m just sitting in the chair like this morning typing away with shoulders swaying, fingers matching the rhythm of the tune. Sometimes pausing to play that imaginary set of drums in front of me or get up and dance.

I get lost in playing with my young grandchildren at times. It’s a good reminder to turn off reality and just imagine, if just for a few moments.

I lose myself out on drives to nowhere. One of the advantages of a convertible, warm summer days and retirement.

Sometimes I’ll lose myself laughing at some comedy clips on YouTube and just keep going for more. It must be some tank within me that I have to refill.

When I was young, I used to lose myself in the game of basketball. I should step out in the driveway and shoot for a while and see if I can regain that feeling. Oh crap, forgot about the bad knee. I guess I’ll lose myself in March Madness instead.

Now that I have more time for my hobbies, I find myself getting lost in them for hours each day.

I always lose myself in love.

I’ve had a few lost weekends with my best friends.

I might have to evaluate life again. I seem to be losing it fairly often.

Lose yourself

The Daily Writing prompt asks – What activities do you lose yourself in?

I lose myself in a lot of what people might consider normal activities. For instance this one, blogging, and writing my poems or books. I can lose myself and find myself at the same time.

Music would probably be the main activity that I lose myself in. Be it, hearing a song on an elevator I like or at a live concert. It causes my body to move and my mind to be at peace and open to new thoughts and ideas.

Driving my Miata now or my motorcycle in the past especially when they are pointed to the beach with some music on a warm sunny summer morning. I love driving and can lose myself on those endless ribbons of asphalt or just cruising slowly on some twisting back roads.

And of course, life wouldn’t be complete if it didn’t start with losing myself in the arms of my better half.

I lose myself and become a child again when playing with my grandchildren. I lose myself each day wondering how my own children’s days are going.

In my hobbies, I can get into a project taking shape and lose myself, and half a day is gone.

It’s impossible not to lose myself on the beach, just letting sand run between my fingers looking out over the Atlantic Ocean, and hearing waves crashing onshore. Floating on my back in a pool or on a float.

Sometimes on the treadmill I’ll shut my eyes and go into a scene I’ve walked outside.

I used to lose myself in my professional work. Here is a public service announcement. It’s great to be professional. It’s great to be dedicated and hard-working, applying yourself to the fullest. It’s not OK to be a slave to the work or to lose your perspective where it’s affecting other parts of your life.

I lose myself in the hammock looking at the clouds overhead.

I can get lost eating a huge pile of steamed crabs or grilled rockfish or steaks or ice cream.

Wow, it looks like I spent a lot of time losing myself with all the above. Don’t send out one of those senior alerts, I’m fine, but if anyone finds me, just return to sender.
