The daily prompt asks – If you could be a character from a book or film, who would you be? Why?
I would like to be the grandfather in the book my kids gave me called Grandpa’s Wish List. It’s a book I can read to the young ones on all the things I’d like to do and build for them and adventures to go on. It’s a short children’s book but one that reminds me to be that person for them. Not that I have much problem remembering their importance to me.
If you could be a character from a book or film, who would you be? Why? – Not the kind of question I’m into this morning from the daily writing prompt, but I’ll give it the old college try. Whoops, I didn’t do much college.
Jake Blues – From the movie The Blues Brothers – The man has a goal, works hard to achieve the goal and has a good time doing it.
After watching some news this morning and the thought of losing even more money I think the appropriate character would be Howard Beale, from the 1976 movie Network.
In one impassioned diatribe, Beale galvanizes the nation, persuading viewers to shout, “I’m as mad as hell, and I’m not going to take this anymore!” from their windows. He is soon hosting a new program called The Howard Beale Show, top-billed as “the mad prophet of the airwaves”.

I had trouble with this one. Then again I’m having trouble with many thoughts this morning after a late Saturday night.
Neo, from the movie The Matrix – I like the long coat, leather pants, and sunglasses look. Never worn anything close to it but it looks cool. But I’m intrigued by the power of the mind and how he uses it.
Randell Raines, from the movie Gone in 60 Seconds – I must drive that Mustang (Eleanor) and the strong sense of doing what is needed for family in the man.
John McCain in the Die Hards – I hate terrorists. And so does he.
Lastly, I’d like to be Richard Pryor in Live on the Sunset Strip or Robin Williams Live at the Met. – I’d like to feel that wit and humor flow so effortlessly, and seamlessly and see what it feels like to leave people crying in their seats with laughter.
My friends and family tell me I’m a character already.
