Dad’s Desk

What’s the oldest thing you own that you still use daily? – Now there is a brain twister from the daily writing prompt. I have a lot of old things, now what gets use?

I had to think about this one for a minute but then, there it was. I was sitting at my father’s desk working on this post and an email to my son wishing him a happy Father’s Day and editing photos and realized the desk was the oldest thing I use daily.

The computer has always been on that desk and that means the last 45 years at least. It’s a beautiful desk, made of cherry wood. It’s not real big, good for a laptop and prevents me from being a pig with papers building up.

Kind of fitting this question would come up on Father’s Day. A reminder of his presence in my life. And when my days are done, I’ll have his desk refinished for my son. Maybe I’m doing work he didn’t get to complete.

Home Sweet Home

What is the oldest thing you own that you still use daily? The Daily Writing prompt would like to know and so would I.

So this requires a little thought, I own some old things but don’t use them daily.

I guess the answer after some thought would be my home of 38 years. The daily use rules out a lot of my older things.

This is a dual-purpose post. Being we are getting into a heat wave this coming week I thought the cool snow might set a lower temp.
