Gratitude

How do you express your gratitude? – A good question from the daily writing prompt.

I like to express gratitude personally.

My mom taught me to say “thank you” often. And I always have to this day. I see it brighten people’s day. Looking into a person’s eyes also when saying it.

I’ll take the time to express my feelings more deeply of what they or a gesture meant to me when appropriate, in person or by mail.

Finding a gesture that hopefully gives them the same or better feeling.

When I get birthday greetings on Facebook, I reply to each person instead of one post thanking everyone.

I tip well.

I sometimes make prints of events for people.

Sometimes when given love, we get them a toy.

Expressing thanks

How do you express your gratitude? – Not a bad question from the Daily Writing prompt.

I do this in many ways. Usually a direct show of appreciation. A hug, a firm handshake. A kiss. I share what it means to me verbally.

Lots of times I’ll follow up with an email or text. My better half is the card sender and a damn good one.

When I get birthday wishes on Facebook I reply to each one instead of just a like.

Sometimes I’ll make things for family and friends. Lots of times photographs. And I hope to make a lot more handmade gifts of appreciation for people.

Sometimes a gift or treat for a meal.

I like that this question reminded me of something I used to do a lot more often for my better half. I’ll have to get to that this morning.

Don’t leave this world without telling people what they mean to you.
