Harmony

What could you let go of, for the sake of harmony? – Asks the daily writing prompt.

Wow, this one caused me to pause a bit.

I’ve let go of a lot of things over time for harmony. To list them out might disrupt that harmony. Many have been very difficult to lose. Some, not so much in reflection.

Some have been actual things and others just dreams or wishes.

I’m big on keeping harmony because I dislike drama. And this is a question that creates it. So, I’ll leave my answer today short and sweet.

Let go

What could you let go of, for the sake of harmony? – I have to stop looking at these Daily writing prompts so early in the day.

I’ve let go of many things over time for the sake of harmony. Both in my professional and personal life. Sometimes simple things, sometimes important things.

Simple like letting go of my disbelief of the number of pillows on the bed pass, to important like not riding a motorcycle anymore.

Ah here is one that is currently creating disharmony and will till I give in. Taking care of the yard and home maintenance. The family for some reason is concerned about me working outside after all these decades.

Now to be fair to them, I’m no youngster anymore. But I’m not out of shape or in ill health. I do have a bad back and some surgically repaired limbs, but I’m functioning fine on a good day. I’m smart about it and don’t work in the heat of the day most of the time now that I’m retired and can pick and choose.

My one-time neighbor was out riding his tractor till 90. I know my family won’t let me get away with that. So I’ll have to hire it out someday which the thought of pisses me off but for the sake of family harmony I’ll give in. But that is several years out anyway. At least I hope it is.

This one I’ll face soon. I’ve been using the basement as a gallery for my photography projects. I’ll have to give this up in a while for the sake of harmony. And the fact she would like to refinish the basement.

I’ll let go of my desire to drop a V8 in my Miata and just do some minor suspension and performance upgrades for the sake of harmony.
