Be Kind

The daily writing prompt is asking me to – “Write about a random act of kindness you’ve done for someone.”

Instead of talking about that things I’ve done in the past, I’ll focus on what more kindness I can do for people. I think I’ll increase my charitable donations. I’ll try to be more aware of those I encounter every day and help where I can by just extending more common curtesy and help when I see someone struggling, be it physically or mentally.

My mother was one of those people who always said there is good in people. Some of it is a little harder to find in some, but that was her philosophy. It’s a good one for me to keep in mind in dealing with people.

Cruelty and nastiness is easy to get sucked into. I have to rise above that and continue to try to be better than that.

I’d like to be remembered as a kind and giving person. And the only way to accomplish that is to work at it each day.

Random

Write about a random act of kindness you’ve done for someone. – Ask’s the daily writing prompt. Again.

I’m a believer in doing these regularly, like each day. From holding a door for someone to stopping at an accident scene. Helping someone with a heavy load, or waiting for someone slow to cross with a smile and a wave. Sharing a good word and smiling at random people or helping with a charitable donation.

Despite the naysayers, this is still a great country loaded with great people doing lots of acts of kindness. Yesterday I tipped a little extra because the service was good at Outback in Westminster. I let people merge without issues even though there were the usual greedy ones. I organized a Zoom meeting between old friends who haven’t had a chance to gather together in a while.

Oh, I let the guy tailgating me up Route 97 yesterday live another day.

Today is another opportunity for those random acts. Just have your eyes open for them. I will do my best to do the same. Maybe we will run into each other.

I think I’ll drop by that Small Miracles cat and dog rescue today and at least make a donation. And maybe spend a few minutes with a cat or two.
