So many choices

I could spend a few days answering the question posed by the daily writing prompt, but I won’t subject you to such an extensive list of wonderful cars I’ve driven from the 60s to present day. The question is – What is your all-time favorite automobile?

Style Wise – the 1971 Z28 Camaro split bumper. Runner up is Eleanor from the movie Gone in 60 Seconds.

Performance Wise – This is a tough one. I’m going to define it by becoming part of the seat when the clutch is released. In no particular order. And yes, I’ve ridden in or driven all of them.

1970 Plymouth Roadrunner with 440 6pack. – 1970 454 Chevelle LS6 – 2012 Corvette Grand Sport heavily modified – 69 Z28 Camaro 302 with all the racing works.

Fun Wise – The car I have now. A 2016 Mazda Miata. It’s no power demon, it’s just fun to drive and be in. It’s a convertible (my first) and it’s a roadster.

I wish the freezing rain wasn’t coming. I’d take the cover off and go for a ride today.

What is your all time favorite automobile? – I could spend every day of the year talking about this question from the Daily Writing Prompt.

My all-time favorite is a moving target because every car show I attend I see something else I covet. Each show I see a new color that becomes my favorite, or a new engine treatment or customization to a model year I love.

I’m going to go with the 1970 Chevy Camaro Z28 as my favorite. I’ve never owned one, but they are beautiful. I did own a 1974 Camaro that I loved. Hurst 4 speed with a 350 4-barrel Holley, Hooker Headers and side pipes, Crager Mach 8 mags, chrome traction bars and of course air shocks. Oh and the mandatory 8 track player and Jenson 6x9s.

Today I own a car that is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. A Mazda Miata MX5-ND. It’s a great driving experience and I have never owned a convertible before and I’ll never own another car that isn’t. Unless it’s a 1970 Z28.

I wish I had taken some photos of this old Camaro above when I finished customizing it. Such is life, opportunities lost. I have yet to start customizing the one below but that day is on the horizon.
