Travel dish

What’s the best local dish you’ve ever eaten while traveling? – The daily prompt with a food question this morning.

Wow, this is an interesting ask. I haven’t been a big traveler in my life you’re not going to get that exquisite meal description from a faraway place.

I’ll go with a simple one that is always a great memory for me. It’s when we were young and before children. Our 3 or 4 days at the beach each summer would always end with a meal at a place called Reflections in Ocean City. We didn’t have a lot back then, so we treated ourselves this one night.

Those dinners alone with my wife bring back good times.

I rarely ate like that then or now but in this place, I would just get a full course of food. Okay, let’s start with their Ceaser salad. The best Curtons I’ve ever had and the freshest parmesan cheese. Onto the best cream of crab soup I’ve ever had. Not too thick or thin, tons of huge backfin crab chunks floating on top and sherry if you so desire which I do. And they would leave that in case you wanted a little more.

Next was the bacon wrapped BBQ shrimp appetizer. Then the combo of a crabcake and filet mignon. And then we would finish with Bananas Foster which was prepared tableside. As were some other entrees which we sampled over the years. Some years before children this was followed by a walk on the beach together.

Unfortunately, they closed several years back, and we have had to discover other ocean favorites. Like Fager’s Island which has a great view and some fine dining.
