What’s a moment when you realized you were officially an adult? – Asks the daily prompt.

Many decades ago, when my dad died when I was 9 all the older men at the service said I was the man of the house now. I wasn’t an adult, but I grew up faster than most from this point on.

At 18 I guess it was official, and I was a working stiff and had been for some time, but I wouldn’t say I was an adult.

I guess it was when I got married at 23. But even then, I still wasn’t behaving like a true adult. Maybe at 26 when I stopped drinking for a long time. At about the same time, we were trying to start a family. That was probably it for me.

Then again, my wife purchased this sign for me which I have hanging over my office door. So maybe I haven’t hit it yet.
