now vs raised

What’s something you do completely differently from how you were raised? – Asks the daily prompt.

I didn’t let my children drive before being of legal age. I didn’t let my children ride in the back window of the car or without seatbelts.

I didn’t follow my father into a career in the military.

As a child I spent a lot of time on two wheels. When I got older, I added a motor to them.

I treated my kids to TV sometimes during dinner. But only when their mom was at work. The tv was never on during meals when I was young.

My belief or faith is different than how I was raised as a catholic child.

I dress far more casually than when I was raised. Also had long hair for a long-time vs that buzz cut I had in my youth that my parents liked.

I curse more than I should.

I don’t think my parents knew how to relax, even in their senior years. I think I got that down now in retirement.

A wooden white bench positioned on a boardwalk, with sand visible in the background.
The coach can put me in or let me ride the bench. At this stage of life, I’m fine with either, as long as it’s a nice view.
