Who likes rain

Raise your hand if you like rain. Well as expected someone who lets rain roll off their backs would approve. The rest of us get wet.

I’m trying to learn to let stuff roll off my back better. I haven’t been the best at that in my lifetime, but constant improvement has been made.

Rain used to be depressing to me. One because I can actually see the grass growing that I’m going to need to cut again. No really it always leaves me feeling kind of down. I do sleep better on rainy days because my incentive is gone to get outside in it.

I miss my car on rainy days. It sits under a cover. One that needs to be replaced. I miss laying out on the deck for a few minutes. I’m not watching nature as much as when it’s nice out.

Going out is a process that I have to mentally prepare for if it’s raining. Driving around here is a challenge and with a wet track the crazies are doubled.

A warm summer rain is tolerable but anything below 70 degrees and rainy is inside weather.

Random Thoughts of the Day

  • I have several fortune cookie slips taped to a shelf above me that I liked. One of them fell on my fingers as I was typing today and it reads “Cherish the simple moments that bring joy, they are the true treasures of life to remember.” If someone was looking out for me today, thank you.
  • Picking up some of my office has given me motivation to continue the effort.
  • I sense a late night.
  • I’m proud of myself for getting back to my ideal weight. I got a little sloppy a few weeks ago.

Pollen cutters

In the spring our waters have pollen cutters.

Sorry, I’m a bit punchy and tired after watching my grandson today. I’m going to try to edit a few shots from Annapolis and do another post before I run out of energy.

Random Thoughts of the Day

  • Children who can’t talk yet communicate just fine with hugs.
  • If you want proof this area is overdeveloped, just try to go anywhere around the rush hours.
  • I saw a person in a compact car trying to drive into the cab of an 18-wheeler. It lost badly.
  • Got a nice gift from The Washington Post today. A framed front page of the day I started there a few decades ago.

Hard

It’s hard to keep your head above water sometimes. I feel like I’m drowning from time to time. But wisdom has taught me survival techniques. Making use of one of them right now. Music is changing my spirit as I type. Listening to an old tune from the Doobie Brothers “Dangerous” and its an upbeat one that reminds me of motorcycle riding days. Followed that with “The Doctor” which is another upbeat song to smile to.

Maybe that’s my problem. I’ve been looking above the surface. Photo by Mike Hartley

I don’t have much energy left in the day. The granddaughter can burn through my reserves without missing a beat. But she is back with her mother tonight and my body is sending me urgent messages to get horizontal soon.

But my mind feels like there is unfinished business and ideas to work on. I did some shooting this afternoon I should download and edit, I haven’t worked on my books yet today. I owe a couple people emails.

Well let me flip a coin and see if we work or rest. There is it, we WORK. Gentlemen, start your engines.

Random Thoughts of the Day

  • When you are inspired, accomplishments are the byproduct.
  • RUSH is a Rush.
  • I have some leftover business cards from the job that once paid the bills. I think I’ll make personal ones on the other side to hand out when needed. Little pieces of artwork.
  • When I stop learning, someone unplug me.
  • I have no idea why clutter seems to multiply around me but it does.
